Mark Herremans.

Mark is our key-note speaker this year. He is a tri athlete and role model for all sports and non sports people alike. In 2001 he came 6th in his first ever Ironman in Hawaii and was rookie of the year. In 2002 he had a biking accident which paralyzed him from chest to toes… In 2006 he won the same ironman in the hand cycle division! His inspirational speeches will reach all participants and with his attitude and positive thinking, he is guaranteed to change your outlook on life.

Ferdy Geeroms.

Ferdy will do 2 practical workshops and one lecture.

The workshops will be on sprinting and relay races for the Elementary School.

The lecture will be on his experiences as an Event manager for international competitions.

He is the current "Event manager and Technical Director" of the Memorial Van Damme Brussels, Belgium a Golden League competition  since more than 20 years, the "Golden Grand Prix, China", Grand Prix Meeting since 2005 and the Belgian Indoor Championships 2000 in Ghent.

He is an EAA coach, was Head coach Track and Field, Belgium at the 1988 Olympic Games in Seoul, and was Technical Director Track and Field Belgium from 1984 until 1990.

 

Samantha Langstaff   

 Samantha is the regional gymnastics development manager for the East of Scotland and has been involved in gymnastics as a gymnast (elite level), coach and volunteer for over 21 years in a number of disciplines.

 She was also lucky enough to be selected to go on the Young Advocates Programme (British Council organised) in Beijing last year which was ran parallel to the Paralympic Games and enabled her to work closely with disabled athletes and develop a legacy from Beijing to bring back to the UK in the lead up to 2012.

 Samantha will be doing 2 workshops on Gymnastics for 2 different target groups.

 Ideas of PE for Pre School

This workshop intends to give an idea of how fun and creative, PE classes can be in early years! From the start to the end of the class, we would like to share our routine and different activities.
The ojective is to share with other participants our daily experience in Early Years!

 

Mark Millett

Completed Human Movement Degree and Diploma of Education at University Of Technology Sydney.  Level 1 rugby union coaching certificates and refereeing qualification.   14 years coaching experience in Rugby union, Oztag and touch football.  Coached at representative level for 6 years in Rugby Union and as a junior, played representative Rugby union for New South Wales and NSW C.H.S.  Also played Rugby for Newport and Warringah Rugby Clubs.

 The Coaching session will be on Oztag and with an emphasis on ball handling, passing and defensive drills that are suitable for all football codes.

David is presenting on : "Fencing games/movements/fighting"

This course offers the opportunity to learn some games that improve reflexes, tempo and reaction skills. Participants will also be taught of basic fencing movements and will experience fighting.

It's a workshop that will suit all levels of teaching.

He has presented on the fundamentals and fitness of boxing at the EARCOS conference and at the PEACH conference and will do a similar work-shop at our conference. 

 Philly football (his second presentation) is a fast paced, high tempo game where everyone touches the ball that I use instead of teaching regular American football. 

Steve was an American football coach for twenty one year has been around a lot of different types of football games

 

Dr Ivonne Chirino-Klevans   ivonne.chirino-klevans@waldenu.edu

 She holds a PhD in Psychology and an MBA. She was a member of the National Olympic Committee serving as Psychologist for the Mexican national rowing team, which won several medals in international competitions. Using her knowledge of sports and Psychology she worked with top corporations using action learning for leadership development. She currently serves as director of International Programs at Walden University. She was Mexican National Champion in Gymnastics, and Pan American Games medalist, and is currently a long distance runner, holding a state record in the 20 kms at the Masters level in North Carolina, U.S.A.

 Proposed session title for this workshop:

1. Anxiety in sports: for good and bad

2. Self-efficacy in the field and in the classroom: “I know I can, and you noticed …”

3. Realistic goal-setting in sports and in the classroom: getting control setting realistic expectations

Susanne will do two wokshops on Badminton, one for beginners and one for more advanced players.

Susanne holds a "Coaching qualification Austria 1989" – worked as youth coach and coach for club players before moving back to the UK

She is a League player in Belgium since 1996, occasional coach for club players

He has led two teams from Belgium to Little League World Series tournaments. He is currently a roving coach for the Brussels Kangaroos, Little League director for Belgium, and a scout for the Baltimore Orioles. He played college baseball at Mount Saint Mary's in Maryland. He works as a staff correspondent in Brussels for the Wall Street Journal

Twice being asked to perform the opening ceremony for international matches at Twickenham. He has his RFU Intermediate coaching award, and teachers referee certificate. He has been Head of PE at Lealands High School in Luton, and Collingwood college in Camberley, both in the UK; and Athletics Director at Copenhagen International School.

Daniel Daly is Associate Professor of Kinesiology and Rehabilitation Science at the Katholieke Universiteit Leuven, Belgium. He was born in Cambridge, Mass.(USA) and was educated at Springfield College, the Pennsylvania State University and the K.U.Leuven, Belgium. He has advised more than 50 Master thesis students in the area of “Physical activity in water for persons with chronic disabilities: Competition, Recreation, Therapy” and has published numerous articles in international journals and congress proceedings on this topic. He has collaborated for more than 15 years with the International Paralympic Committee and teaches in the swimming teaching and coaching education programs for persons with as with (Belgian Paralympic Committee) as well as without disabilities (Flemish Coaches School: VTS).
